for everyone
doing up a better entry for my taipei trip last sep. show off show off a bit. may nt be using
Bombastic or excellent english (as usual) to narrate the my tots, happenings and all the crap abt tis trip. spent quite alot of time using photoshop to resize/crop/arrange. muz go for photoshop class soon, or else ppl gonna luff at me for knowin so lil. of cos la, learn photoshop is nt for hao lian or wat, juz wanna get the pictures more of the way u wanted it to look, better presentation. editing the pics take up alot of one's time, dependin on how efficient one is wif the program. i m onli 1-2 upon 10 ba.

it all started when i noticed LJers' travel pics a few yrs back - kinda triggered me to do the same. subscribed to Discovery Travel Channel - as a gd resource, sit back relax, juz watch tv. relating a travel experience is juz like telling ppl more abt urself :)

dennis made travelling so fun! when i knew him in 1997, he had already done so much travelling at age 16. wat a travel freak!

tell me who doesnt like to travel? provided u haf the time and money, commitments like work or school may juz tie u down. when/where/how to go? wat to do?

Y taipei?
1. Cost - nt that expensive.
2. Media Influenced - ah mei singing Naruwan
3. Never Been there b4, plus ppl told us that itz a nice place to visit
4. Far Enough (itz the farthest place i visited so far)
5. Not too dangerous to visit

Credits
- Special thanks to PJ for the travel brochures and itinery, itz gd to haf a frd in the travel industry. booking of airtix/hostel/hotel, changing of money wouldnt be easier if u were nt ard.
- Thanks to cousin Yanru for providing great online info, on where to go, wat to do and stuff :)
- thanks to my starhub stint, or else i wont be able to afford the $1k plus trip, ya, tis is the amt i spent.
- checked forums and some websites... ppl's blogs, resourceful.
- Thanks to Bryan for his precious info! tanks for tellin me where's Funky and how gd Li Yi's Taiyang Bing tasted!
- Thanks to Justin/PJ/Titan, my tripmates who tolerated my ren xing thru out the whole trip. itz fun lookin up for info and planning the entire trip. tank u peijun for trusting me that i can make it myself alone for the last 3 nights in Taipei. knew everyone worried, juz wanna experience hw itz like to be alone in a foreign city. come to think of it, itz actualli quite scary, fortunately no mishaps along the way :)
- Tanks to my family for allowing me to travel wif frds. itz the first time to travel somewhere that far wif friends. i m 22 at that point of time aniway :)

- My Luggage, carried from home to Red Hill MRT, sweats, 1 pull & 2 Carry bags
- Wanton Mee for breakfast at airport staff canteen.
- Jetstarasia - $358 (price of my air tix)
- Justin reading my chinese Taipei guide books, one's by Liang Wang Feng. my books were bought from Kinokuniya at takashimaya, the english taiwan guidebooks arent v useful.
- english books - insight guides, national geographic, lonely planet...
- so, go to Kino - Chinese section - under Travel, useful books there!!! provided u know how to read Chinese well, or else u'd haf hard time understanding. c, who ask u nt to study ur chinese well in pri and sec sch! LOL, i do regret for my bad english, or else i'd be publishing a book now! writing can be practised :) thats y u c tt i m typin so much here.

was so excited when the plane took off. the last time i took a plane was in 2000, to HK. Jetstarasia offered leather seats which r cramped, wat to do? air tix is cheap aniway. heard from Bryan and other ppl that their sq air tix cost abt 400plus. well, nevermind la, save money more impt, next time workin then pamper pamper lor. right now is - if u r nt rich, u deserve to suffer. LOL, that was written in Today (free newspapers). well, learn from ikea " u dun haf to be rich to be clever." Itz like we chose to stay at the hostels instead of at the hotel, main thing - never try b4, cheap, location is gd!

when the word "backpacking" is heard, wat comes to ur mind? is it caucasians who go around in berms and haversack more than wat they r weighed, trekking sandals, staying at hostels. if they can do it, y cant we? sound like a Cranberries song ya.

i'd always bring lotsa wet wipes and tissue. to wipe urself greaseless at all times. bring water bottle, never get dehyrated!

Jetstarasia - low cost carrier

Visited Hua Xi Jie - Ximenting on the first night.
was on the plane for 5 hrs - miserable
Took 国光 (Guo Guang) Bus service from CKS airport to Taipei Main Station @ NT120

u can check if there r any buses that goes directly or nearer to where u r gona stay. this will save u abit of time.

from airport to taipei city is abt 40-60min, depending on the traffic.

an old and small night market - Hua xi ye shi. itz a place where u find creepy crawlies and wild animals for tonic nourishments as believed by some ppl. dun expect gd food stalls to be ard, dun come here wif an empty stomach.

the whole building offers Neoprint svc. if these machines can be here for so long, i m sure they muz be makin money! ha.

catch the eye candies leavin or entering the gym. wished i were a cali member, then can access the gym during this holiday. nt for noti purposes, juz an experience to gym overseas.

Kfc that spans 4 levels, emmanuel asked if there is a lift inside. i cant rem!!!

Traffic signs r all in chinese. Ting means Stop, which means u cant park ur veh here.

semen station? do u know how ximenting got itz name? if i m nt wrong, it used to be visited by the jap in the olden days. thru out the yrs, it turned out to be a vibrant and hip place esp for the young ones.

ask me abt orchard road in sg, i'd tell u that in the olden days, it used to be a plantation ground and tanks to itz ideal location, it turned out to be a commercialised shopping district where u c taitais go to the high end boutiques, the young hipsters going Heeren and Far east plaza.

itz kinda like Mongkok in HK.

ximenting is Taipei's Orchard road
zhong xiao dong lu and ard Taipei 101 area is like City Hall

hw i wish to c more huge billboards and prints of advertisements in sg. Jay chow being Pepsi star!

pics of Taipei's MRT. fares start from 15NT-40NT if i werent wrong.

din expect them to haf such clean trains.

itz abt 11ish. time to head home. tis was probably the last or 2nd last train.

our room for 3 was kinda cramp. no place to place luggage. justin had to place some on his bed while i had all on the floor.

itz abt sgd16 a night here. but if u r alone, u pay abt sgd20. check tis out from

for everyone
When will you be home?" she asks
as we watch the planes take off
We both know we have no clear answer
to where my dreams may lead
She's watched me as I crawled and stumbled
As a child, she was my world
And now to let me go, I know she bleeds
and yet she says to me

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be praying every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

Autumn leaves fell into spring time and
Silver-painted hair
Daddy called one evening saying
"We need you. Please come back"
When I saw her laying in her bed
Fragile as a child
Pale just like an angel taking flight
I held her as I cried

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be praying every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away
---
heard tis again at Corrinne May gig last sun. felt v much in the situation. yes, i love u... i love u
too much to make u stay. no matter where u r, i still love u...
